The department of Physiology of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College, previously known as Birla College of Science and Education, has started offering BioScience General Undergraduate courses in the year 2002. The course was split into three sister departments of Zoology, Botany and Physiology with Dr. Sujit Kumar Dutta as the first Head of the Department of Zoology and Coordinator of the entire BioScience under the administration of Dr.T.K.Majumder. The department which was established in the old building, shifted to one wing of the rising new building in 2013 with a 192 sq. ft. area. After the completion of the all three arms of the college building, in 20th July 2023,  rooms  201 and 202 were allocated for Physiology. The Department of Physiology has all the necessary equipment, machineries, apparatus etc needed for conducting Biochemistry,Histological and Human experimental practicals.
