About

In 2003, the journey of the Bengali department at Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College began in its literal sense. However, even before that, Dr. Parimal Ghosh, a respected professor experienced in Bengali language and literature, had enriched the college's students, teachers, and staff through regular discussions on Bengali language and literature. Since the early days of the department, those who have tirelessly worked for its improvement include Dr. Manidipa Sikdar and Madhuparna Nag Chowdhury. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rafiq Sardar and Maniniya Shaoli Mukhopadhyay, like skilled professors, have contributed to teaching in our department.

Looking back, while the Bengali department at Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College might not be very old, our time was dedicated to achieving competence, recognition, and respect. Presently, Head of the Department Dr. Madhusree Mukherjee along with Manidipa Sikdar, Madhuparna Nag Chowdhury, Dr. Moumita Sarkar and Susmita Manna, hold the responsibility of the department.

Initially, Bengali was taught here as a compulsory subject for three years, alongside honors and general courses. Keeping pace with the times, a curriculum-based discussion on Bengali, following the CBCS method, was introduced here some time ago. Presently, following the national education system, we conduct semester-based education and evaluation using the CCF method, like other universities.

Due to the limited number of seats at the honors level, the annual student-teacher meet has always been the most attractive aspect of our department. Through this sincere camaraderie, we organize various events throughout the year with students. It's not just about curriculum-based learning; regular discussions on practical and organizational matters related to future academic and professional life are also conducted here.

The genuine enthusiasm of former students for the department always inspires us. Their gradual success in higher education and professional fields is undoubtedly the source of inspiration for present and future students. And if we nurture this enthusiasm, it will surely illuminate our path towards a brighter future.

At present, with the diligent efforts of five competent teachers, the Bengali department at Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College is a source of boundless joy for students, parents' confidence, colleagues' appreciation and affection, a point of pride in management, and our second family - a family that is the subject of our deepest dreams.

In the distant future, as the number of family members increases at a proportional rate, more research-based and practical activities will be initiated, and postgraduate studies will begin. From the very first day of its inception, the Bengali department at Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College has contributed significantly to the field of Bengali language and literature. But actions speak louder than words, and everyone is invited to our home...
